Yoga for Mamas

Yoga for Mamas is on! Mondays and Fridays, 11.15am to noon, at Cardiotone, Church and Day in Noe Valley (just down the road from Upper Noe Rec Centre).

Tight shoulders and achy low back from months of Ergo use? Cranky hips and quads from lots of sitting, nursing, bending down repeatedly? Core not really where you thought it would be by now? Me too! This all levels vinyasa flow class is designed by a mom, for moms. We will gently open the heart and chest to address the “mom hunch”, stretch, strengthen and lengthen the legs, and ease open the hips. And, oh yes, we will work that core. On the way we’ll honor any fatigue, find release from the pressures of inhabiting the role of mama, and reconnect with our true intentions. We focus on the need to find time to take care of ourselves, so we can return to the world better placed to take care of those we love.

The class is appropriate for mamas with babies and toddlers of all ages, but I prefer that you be at least 8 weeks postpartum before coming to class. There is limited babysitting available (be sure to book in advance if you want this option), which is especially good for toddlers and crawlers! You’re welcome to keep younger babies by your side or in their stroller or car seat, and of course to attend to their needs as needed. Cardiotone very generously will refund your class if you have to leave because your baby is crying too much for you to remain.

And note that I do start class right on time at 11.15 so arriving closer to 11am is recommended, to give you time to get you and your baby settled. But late-coming is always understood so please don’t stop yourself from coming if you’re running 5 mins behind. I’ve been there!
